The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has signed a contract with Ideal Solution Company to establish a unit dedicated to the regulation and monitoring of surface and groundwater resources and their uses. The objective is to automate all operations, expedite and facilitate access to data, and to interconnect all current and future systems concerned with the regulation of surface and groundwater resources within and external to the ministry.
Through this partnership, the regulatory and monitoring unit will provide performance indicators for the governance of the water system and its compliance, as well as performance indicators for the water sources code. This will assist in organizing and digitizing all operations, significantly supporting the making of pivotal decisions and the formulation of strategies to preserve surface and groundwater resources, thereby ensuring their sustainability for various activities.
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has established a regulatory and monitoring unit for water resources aimed at improving the management of groundwater and surface water and ensuring their sustainable use. The unit is responsible for monitoring the licensing processes, ensuring optimal water usage according to the prevailing standards and laws, and developing performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of policies and procedures for water source protection. It also monitors violations and financial and informative transactions across all regions of Saudi Arabia for various purposes. The ministry has confirmed that the unit will work on connecting everything related to the regulation and monitoring of water resources through an advanced control and monitoring unit.
